GENERAL QUESTIONS

The Dakar is the biggest rally-raid in the world, but above all it is an unforgettable human adventure in which professionals and amateurs fulfil their dreams and accomplish one of the biggest challenges of their lives.

Click here to learn more about the Dakar.

Everyone can enter the Dakar; the only condition is to be at least 18-years of age. You do not need to be a rally-raid champion to take part. The goal of the Dakar is to have both professionals and amateurs participating in the same rally and on the same route. Only Bikes and Quads are subject to a selection. Candidates must be able to justify a first successful experience in Rally Raid. Find here all the selection criteria.

There are no jokers in the Dakar because it’s the most selective and prestigious rally raid in the world. However, the sport direction has created this year the “Parallel way Challenge” allowing cars and trucks crews to take parallel route on the most difficult parts of the first week of racing in Peru. Find all condition in the article 23P5 of the car/truck regulations.

For more information, please read article 24P3 on “Withdrawals and Disqualification” of the Bike/quad regulations Moto/Quad.

All accredited drivers (competitors and assistance) on the Dakar must sign a charter, a commitment to proper behaviour before the start of the event. Compliance with all driving laws in the various countries is an absolute necessity. The data recorded by the GPS’ are analysed in order to sanction infractions. Speed checks are also carried out by local law enforcement. On the road, all vehicles are required to have their headlights on.

Communication :

The Dakar organisers, in partnership with PhotoRunning, decided to set up a free system to allow competitors to automatically share photos of them on a daily basis on Facebook.

The LiveTracking system allows your family and friends to follow your race in real time with your different check point times, the intermediate classifications, the news flashes from the rally and an interactive map. This turnkey system is customizable with the number of the competitors of your choice and the integration of your promotional banner within the application.
