“It’s up to the drivers to make the difference”
CREW FACTS
PS
- Heading into his sixth Dakar, Paul Spierings has already had two lives in the desert: alone on his bike, for his first three participations, and in a car since 2023, storming the dunes aboard futuristic prototypes with his friend Jan Pieter van der Stelt.
- In 2025, Spierings partners with Rebellion to develop his organisation and expand his ambitions, with two vehicles lining up in Saudi Arabia.
- After he entered the top-10 for the first time in 2024, Spierings dreams of the podium and a stage win: “We are stronger than ever.”

- Before he took on the challenges of the desert, Jan Pieter van der Stelt knew everything about sandblasting with his business activities. An enthusiast for outdoor activities, he’s joined Paul Spierings and put his dedication at the service of developing their Dakar organisation.
- Together, the duo has built a private team, now supported by Rebellion. “Now we have everything we need”, Van der Stelt celebrates.
- Van der Stelt’s skills have also helped Spierings move up the ladder in the standings, all the way to a first Top 10 finish in the Challenger standings in 2024.
2025 AMBITIONS
P.S.: “The three years on the bike were absolutely amazing, and I enjoyed every moment. The only downside was the solitude. Now, with my own team, I feel incredibly happy. I am constantly amazed by how things are coming together, and I’m so grateful for everything we have achieved so far.
This year, we are starting the Dakar with the Taurus, and not with one, but with two vehicles, along with Alexandre Pesci and Stephan Kuhni. We are incredibly grateful for the amazing support and everything Taurus Wevers Sport provides us with.
With excellent equipment, close cooperation with all our partners, and the dedication of our fantastic team, the foundation for success is solid. Now it’s up to the drivers to make the difference.
Jan Pieter is a star, and this will be our fourth Dakar together. Over the years, we’ve achieved some great results. Last year, we finished 10th with a private team, and now we are ready for even more. Unfortunately, we missed out on a stage win last year due to technical issues, but that’s all part of the challenge that Dakar brings: 14 days of pushing through both technical and mental tests.
This year, we are stronger than ever, both mentally and technically, and we feel ready to aim for the podium.”
J.P.v.d.S.: “At the same time, the Dakar has taken a bigger place in my life along the years, but it’s also become easier. Three years back, it was a really difficult year, figuring out what we needed and what was best for us. And gradually we’ve built a strong organisation, with good team members, and it’s taken us to a much higher level. Our aim is to go from rookies to experts.
We are really enthusiastic for this edition. The first goal is to finish. The car feels great and we have the team to fight, maybe not with the Top 3, but at least for a Top 10 position and achieve the same or a better standing.”
