A new car and a new chapter for Captain Saleh
A new chapter opens for Saleh Al Saif. After competing in a Can Am for the past four years and managing very convincing performances, the Saudi driver will be switching to an OT3 prototype for 2024 prepared by Belgian outfit G Rally, the structure set up by the De Mevius family. At 46 years of age the driver from Ha’il will be seated in one of the best cars of the field that Guillaume De Mevius took to third place overall last year. “Captain Saleh” as he is known has had quite an impressive run on the Dakar. For his debut in 2020, he captured 12th position overall and went on to clinch a first stage win a year later. After two disappointing setbacks, the Saudi driver hit back on the last edition when he claimed 6th spot, his best ever performance. The goal is to do better and Al Saif will be helped out by a new co-driver. Indeed Nasser Saadoun Alkuwari returns to the Dakar after a first vain attempt with his brother Ahmed. The Qatari recently conquered a 6th Middle-East Rally championship title as a co-driver.
