“Prepared as best as possible for the Dakar”

CREW FACTS

A.A-K

  • Abdulaziz is the youngest star of the Alkuwari family, well known in Qatar and the Middle-east for being one of the most prestigious dynasties in motorsports.  His father competed in rallies and his brother (also his team mate) has 7 MERC titles as a co-driver.
  • Not only is he a fast driver, he’s also an excellent padel player competing in major international tournaments
  • Alongside his brother Nasser and in a Skoda Fabia RS, he this year claimed his first ever FIA Middle-East Rally Championship title, like the legendary Nasser Al Attiyah who had won 19 titles before him.
  • Abdulaziz will be discovering the Dakar for the first time as part of the Nasser Racing team, behind the steering wheel of a Taurus. He could well become one of the good surprises of this Dakar

N.A-K

  • Inspired by his father he started his rallying career behind a steering wheel. But gradually became one of the best co-drivers in the Middle-East.
  • While claiming 7 MERC titles as a co-driver he was given the opportunity to come on the Dakar in 2021 as the navigator of Ahmed Al Kuwari. The Qatari crew sadly failed to finish their first Dakar but came back to eventually reach the finish line in 32nd spot.
  • Last January, the 44-year-old returned to the event after a one-year absence, but this time as the co-driver of one of the best Challenger drivers of the field: Saudi Arabia’s Saleh Al Saif. Both men went on to win a stage and finished at an excellent 6th position overall.
  • It was only logical that he would become the partner of his brother Abdulaziz for his debut in a Taurus prepared by the Nasser Racing team.

AMBITIONS 2025

A.A-K.: “Not easy, for sure, to win the MERC championship when Nasser is there. I am very happy for my country which has supported me a lot the whole season. This year we took it seriously and went out to challenge for the MERC. I won two titles this year: this one and the Jordan National Championship. The Qatar federation and Nasser Racing created a great program for me and my teammates to prepare us as best as possible for Dakar. Hopefully, we will achieve strong results together.”

N.A-K.: “Competing at the Qatar Baja was the best preparation for Dakar. I will be navigating for my brother Abdulaziz in the Challenger class, supported by QMMF and run by Nasser Racing. It was my brother’s third rally raid in Qatar and although we faced car issues on the first day and lost considerable time, we won our class on the second day and placed second overall. Abdulaziz is learning quickly and improving with each rally. We are working hard to prepare for Dakar and to gain as much experience with the car as possible.”
