Adrien Van Beveren: “The goal was for Ricky to ride with me as well”

Yesterday’s stage winner Adrien Van Beveren opened the way all day, putting into practice the plan drawn up by the Monster Energy Honda HRC team.

 “I focused on the first part. I knew that the goal was for Ricky to ride with me as well, so I tried to be clean with the navigation for him and for myself to avoid mistakes because in the end it was fast but with rocky sections where you really couldn’t see the tracks, so I followed the exact line as much as possible. Towards the end I searched a bit for the tracks. I kept turning around to see if Ricky was still there. I always saw him but not at the very end. At refuelling, I had a bit of a gap on Ricky and we decided to make sure he would get the bonuses as well. I asked him if he wanted to open but he told me he preferred that I do it”.
