“It will be interesting to see how the Dakar has evolved”

En bref

B M:
  • Yet another Portuguese enduro rider who switched to SSV. Except he was one of the pioneers of the sport. He started racing Chinese brands way back in 2008!
  • He was national champion in 2017 and then national rally-raid champion in 2020
  • However, he did his first desert rally on a bike when he entered the Merzouga Rally in 2015.
  • Then in 2019 he was called up by Frenchman Loic Bonnevie, boss of BBR, to drive the teams sweeper SSV on the Peru Dakar. He had to look after 5 cars and didn’t sleep for three days.
  • Now seven years later he’s coming back to fulfil a similar role to the Portuguese Santag team. And he’s hoping with only three cars he’ll have a few decent nights sleep!
  • When he’s not racing SSVs he’s fixing them and selling them from his shop BRM Portugal.
  • Despite a busy schedule Bruno has found the time to have a baby. He’ll be back just in time for their 1st birthday!

Ambition

B M: “Side x side is my passion and my job with my shop, so I am a happy man! It will be interesting to return to Dakar after all this time and see how it has evolved. I will be looking after the other cars in the Santag team so what is important for me is to finish. I know many of the other Portuguese SSV competitors, I saw them taking their first steps in the sport, Challenger drivers as well, so of course I will stop for them too if they need help. My second cousin Joao Ferreira will be racing a T1+ on the 2026 Dakar so I will be rooting for him too. It will be very rewarding for me to be able to race with all these people that mean so much to me. For me that is the spirit of the Dakar.”
