Daniel Sanders: “This is the least I can do to give something back to them”

Dakar 2026 | Stage 12 | AL HENAKIYAH > YANBU
January 16 th 2026 - 13:37 [GMT + 3]

Daniel Sanders, who injured his collarbone after yesterday's crash, struggled today on the rough terrain. However, the Australian has no intention of giving up.

Interview : DANIEL SANDERS

“Everything was worse than yesterday. The terrain was a lot more demanding with a lot of loos rocks and riverbeds. It was torture. It’s so hard riding with one arm already. […] It was really difficult, technical stuff so that’s where it really, really hard for me. I had one crash and tried not to land on my left side because it’s already so damaged. Also, my muscles yesterday got used a lot because I’m compensating a lot, not using my left arm so my legs are working more and my right arm is working more. […] In the end, I just had to make it to the finishing line and I did. I don’t care about the time or anything like that, I’m just happy to be here. We’ve got one more day left. […] The team and everyone behind me have worked so hard and this is the least I can do to give something back to them for all their hard work and trust. I just want to show them that I can go above and beyond for them and I’ll do anything it takes to get a result. I’ll be very happy when I see that finishing line”.
