It did not even take Kevin Benavides eight days to add his name to the annals of the Challenger class. Together with Luciano's victory in the motorbike race, his triumph makes the Kevin Benavides the first brothers to win the same Dakar stage in different classes.

"My first week in the car wasn't easy, but I didn't give up. My first victory didn't come easy, but we finally got our hands on it. We ran into trouble when we lost our rear brakes halfway into the special, but I said to myself my time had come. I didn't know my brother had won. It's a historic day for the Benavides brothers, I'm happy for him. I think this is my twelfth Dakar victory, I'm thrilled."
