Today, Brock Heger won his second stage after the prologue, bring a fourth consecutive victory for Polaris and as a result, the general rankings are still coloured sky blue. Xavier de Soultrait has handed over the overall lead to the defending champion a little earlier than last year. Heger is the new leader with a 43-second advantage over his closest pursuer, Portugal's Gonçalo Guerreiro. ‘XdS’ has dropped into to third place (11'07’’ behind) but the podium in the general rankings is still entirely dominated by Polaris vehicles driven by Loeb Fraymedia Motorsport drivers.
“Today was a fairly good day and I’m super happy with it. We got one puncture towards the end, which sucked – I was trying to at least make it a stage with no punctures. We started about fifth in our class and got up to first on the tracks in our class and we just kept trying to catch the Challenger cars. There were a lot of dust and a lot of rocks towards the end but overall, my pace was fast. I’m excited about the marathon stage. Last year was obviously my first year and we had a really good marathon and a good chrono which kind of put is in the lead there at the beginning of the week, so I’m looking forward to it and looking forward to sleeping in a tent and rationing my food”.
