The Lithuanian had already claimed SSV and, especially, Ultimate stage wins in his precocious career. This year, he is trying his hand at the Stock class, and today he picked up his first victory in it.

"I don't really know what happened to my teammates. I saw Stéphane having a problem, and he told me to keep going. There were a lot of rocks, so you really had to take care of the car. Anyway, the plan is to bring the car to the finish every day. Today it worked out, so far so good, but there are still plenty of tough days ahead. There was a lot of dust today, which reminded me a bit of my time in SSVs when we were always in the dust, but that's part of the Dakar."
