BIKES | HUSQVARNA GET THE STAGE WIN AND RETAIN THE GENERAL RANKINGS LEAD
Luciano Benavides has won his 2nd stage on this edition of the Dakar ahead of Toby Price (55'') and his Husqvarna Factory Racing team-mate Skyler Howes. As on stage 6, HVA can celebrate the victory of Luciano Benavides and the fact that Skyler Howes retains the lead of the Dakar, making it the 5th consecutive day for the American at the summit of the rally. However, Toby Price is only 3 seconds behind in the general rankings! This morning, 13 seconds separated the two men. Kevin Benavides, Price’s KTM team-mate, occupies third, 5'09’’ from the rally leader. Adrien Van Beveren is the leading Honda rider, 15'40'' behind, but ahead of his team-mate Pablo Quintanilla, who trails the rally leader by 18'24''. Mason Klein has dropped back into 6th position, 18'42’’ from the top of the leader board.
CARS | LOEB WINS
Sébastien Loeb has just reached the finishing line with the best time. As a result, the Frenchman wins his third special on this edition of the Dakar, finishing more than 3’ ahead of Zaidotas Zala and 4’ in front of Guerlain Chicherit for a fine grouped finish for the Prodrive team.
QUADS | VICTORY FOR KANCIUS!
Laisvydas Kancius has often come close to a stage victory since the opening of the 45th Dakar, but the Lithuanian has been struck by bad luck... Today, he finally got his act together by setting the best time of the day with a margin of victory of 4' over Francisco Moreno Flores and 5' over Marcelo Medeiros. Alexandre Giroud has taken fifth place, conceding a little bit more than 3' to Moreno Flores in the general rankings. The Frenchman still has a lead of nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes.
LW PROTOTYPES | ZILLE WINS IN THE T3 CATEGORY
David Zille has tasted victory to make it his very first stage win on the Dakar. The Argentinean has beaten Guillaume de Mevius by just 2 seconds. Mitch Guthrie, who led for a good part of the stage, has finished 12’’ behind the winner and holds on to the lead in the general rankings. Austin Jones has finished the day a little less than 9’30’’ behind Zille, allowing de Mevius to increase his lead in the general rankings to 12 minutes.
TRUCKS | SECOND VICTORY FOR VAN KASTEREN
Janus Van Kasteren has achieved the best time on the day’s special to win his second stage victory on the 45th edition of the Dakar. Pascal de Baar climbs onto the second step of the day’s podium having finished in front of Jaroslav Valtr. With victory, Van Kasteren has regained more than 11 minutes on Ales Loprais who nonetheless holds on to the lead in the general rankings.
SSV | NUMBER 3 FOR ERYK GOCZAŁ
Eryk Goczał has obtained his third stage victory on the Dakar. The Polish driver finished the special 46’’ ahead of Rokas Baciuška and a little less than one minute in front of his uncle Michał. In the general rankings, Eryk has slightly gained time on Baciuška, who only leads his Polish rival by five minutes. With the 11th best time almost 9’30’’ behind his son Eryk, Marek Goczał, is now at the foot of the rally’s provisional podium.
