- David Brock’s decision to compete on the Dakar probably came when the Australian visited the rally back in 2023. But it was still to be a long path before he eventually would reach the start line in Yanbu.
- David only started competing on bikes at the age of 53. His love for motorsport however began early, and by age 14, he was already riding trail bikes in the Australian Alps. Over time, this hobby evolved into a lifelong passion for off-road adventure, long-distance endurance, and eventually, rally raid racing.
- Nephew of Peter Brock, a legend of Australian motorsports who won the famous Bathurst 1000 on 9 occasions, it only seemed natural that he too was to compete at the highest level. On his path to Dakar, the 54-year-old first took part in rallies in Australia, before heading to Europe for the Hellas Rally and then the bigger stage of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge and the BP Ultimate Rally-Raid Portugal (both W2RC legs).
- David has spent over 30 years as a full-time operational Firefighter in Victoria, Australia. He now takes on a far different challenge: to try and finish the Dakar on his KTM 450 RR.

“The Dakar is a race that brings together everything I’m passionate about: motorbikes, navigation, endurance, and adventure. After decades of exploring remote landscapes and pushing my limits, Dakar represents the next natural step -the hardest, purest, and most meaningful test of his skills and spirit. After spending a week inside the Dakar bivouac, I knew for certain: this is where I belong. I loved the experience and thought that with hard work and perseverance, it may be an event I could compete at one day. That day is here!
My goals at Dakar are to: 1-Finish safely, 2-Minimise errors and mistakes, 3-Achieve the best result possible and 4-Enjoy the ride!
Beyond Dakar 2026 is still an open book but I plan to continue competing internationally, seeking new challenges and exploring this amazing planet!”
