“I don’t know what awaits me”
Pietro D’Agostino’s lifelong passion for engines and rallying reaches its climax with this year’s Dakar entry. The Italian has followed the event since his interest in motorsport began and, after over 150 races as a navigator, finally gets his chance. Long time friend and fellow Dakar newcomer David Bizzozero will carry out driving duties in the carefully restored 1980 Range Rover. It’ll be their first competition together and Bizzozero admits to being shocked by his first experience of dunes in Morocco.
D.B.: “Going to Morocco showed me what the dunes are really like. I never thought it would be so difficult, but we also didn't have the right tools, so I believe the Dakar will be better. Doing the Dakar is a dream come true - and if we win, even better! But realistically, I don't know what awaits me and competing against people who have already done 8-10 Dakars is a big challenge, so my goal is just to finish.”
P.d.A.: “It’s a dream come true. I always wondered if one day I could participate in an event of this size, it was the main thing missing in my career. I’ve waited my turn and now is the time. Even if we finish last we will still feel victorious, with great stories to tell.”
