"My main goal is to become a finisher, a finishing spot is secondary"
En bref
- Filip had the opportunity to follow the Dakar as a kid : his dad Pawel participated as a truck co-pilot in 2014. As Filip always wanted to be in the Dakar one day, it's definitely a dream come true for him to start this 2026 edition for the first time ever, with his dad next to him as Pawel will be on the Saudi stages too.
- When he was 10 years old, he crashed going downhill on a mountain bike. He just blacked out for a few minutes and had a lot of bruises and scratches on his body. The crash itself most likely made more mental than physical damage. At this age, he wanted to become a pro cyclist but this accident made him rethink his career path.
- Tadej Pogacar is one of the persons on earth that inspired him most. Filip about Pogi : "It was just the fact that a young guy made his name very early on the Tour de France roads. It showed me that it’s all about putting in the work and believing in yourself. And now I’m more impressed by the mental approach that he demonstrates."
- Filip ran his first marathon after he made a bet with his dad saying he could prepare for it in only 3 months time...
- After starting motocross in 2015, he quickly switched to enduro and cross-country. But he stopped racing at the end of 2022 to focus on his studies. He sold his bike and found a new passion with running. However, a few months later, his dad decided to take him to Dubai, as a birthday present, to ride a rally bike in the desert. He instantly fell in love with dunes. That’s when he decided to take his shot at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge in 2024.
- Apart from rallies, Filip has spent the past two years running, his second passion. He also loves training for anything that has a start and a finish line.
Ambition
"The Dakar has always been my dream. My main goal for this edition is to become a finisher, a finishing spot is secondary. Much faster and more experienced riders have crashed out in the early stages during previous editions so my focus will be on staying consistent, avoiding major mistakes, and enjoying the journey as much as possible."
