- A social recluse and ardent supporter of the right to switch off from work, Cameron Moore is an American by birth but educated in the finest British tradition. He lives in Italy, failing to get residency in most non-extradition countries, with his Italian wife and some children.
- He’d reluctantly signed up for the 2024 Dakar Classic but was unable to attend due to covid.
- His only other competitive motorsport outing was this year’s Pioneers Classic. It is promoted as being the only rally raid for classic cars where pure speed is used to decide the rankings. Unfortunately, it was short lived competitive debut for Cameron, as he broke the car on the very first day. He’s hoping that a change of car and the constraints of the regularity regulations will mean that his Dakar Classic is a longer lasting experience. But he is not confident.

- Fortunately, Cameron’s co-driver Maurizo Dominella has a little more Dakar experience -no less than 33 participations to be precise! A bit of a Dakar legend, with a 7th place alongside Dominique Housieaux as his best result, he’s also raced with Clay Regazzoni, Andre Dessoude and more recently with SSV pioneers Extreme Plus.
- After a long career in advertising, for the last 10 years he’s been busy restoring classic enduro bikes from 1970 onwards: Honda XRs, SWM, Moto Morini… often competing alongside other Dakar classic enduro enthusiasts such as Stephane Peterhansel.
2025 AMBITIONS
C.M.: “I was talked into the Dakar Classic by a group of excitable Italian friends and because of my British education was unable to say no. I tired to sabotage my 2025 Dakar Classic entry by breaking the car I was using on the Pioneers Classic but instead of kicking me out of the team -which would have been the logical option- they instead found me a stronger car. Don’t ask me what model it is I have no idea -though I’m pretty sure it is a Nissan. Obviously, given my disastrous performance on the Pioneers and my total lack of experience when it comes to regularity rallies, I have limited ambitions as far as the 2025 Dakar Classic is concerned. I sincerely doubt I will be troubling those at the top of the leader board. Frankly it’ll be a result if I get to the second day”.
M.D.: “This will be my first time participating in the Dakar Classic. Apparently, there’s a good atmosphere and the race is interesting. I don’t know Cameron very well, he’s more the age of my son! We were in the same car on the Pioneers Rally but that was a short-lived experience… Hopefully we’ll get a bit further on the 2025 Dakar Classic”.
