“Patience will be the greatest virtue”

- Luciano Gomes first appeared on the Dakar back in 2023 as the codriver of Enio Bozzano in the T3 class. Both Brazilians even managed to reach the finish in 33rd spot.
- But Gomes certainly had in mind his original passion: bikes. After competing 10 times in the Sertoes Rally and becoming a four-time cross-country Brazilian champion in the veteran class, the Dakar had to be done on two wheels.
- The rider from Luiz Alves started riding bikes back in 1998, mainly in enduro and after a long break, he switched to off-road rallies and has been well present on the Brazilian cross-country scene ever since.
- On a KTM 450 RR and with the help of the MED Racing Team, Luciano is focused on patiently reaching the finish line and the soon to be fifty-year-old father of two hopes to do well in his class of “old timers”.
Ambición
L.G.: “The Dakar Rally has always been a dream; I've followed this race for a long time, and I have several friends who have competed in it. In 2022, my great friend Enio Bozzano Junior invited me to be his co-pilot in the 2023 Dakar. Before I even thought about it, my answer was yes, my dream becoming a reality. It was a sensational experience, I've always ridden motorcycles so everything was new, the UTV is very safe.
But since I've always ridden motorcycles, I still had that desire to do it on a motorcycle. I planned for 2025, but in August my father had serious health problems, which forced me to reschedule for the 2026 Dakar.
The Dakar represents the greatest sporting challenge of my life. I expect a very tough race, where patience will be the greatest virtue; every day completed will be a victory.
My ambition is to finish every day, and if that happens, I believe I will have a good result in the Veterans Trophy.”
