“To be a thorn in the side of the factory riders”

A multi-times South African champion in enduro, off-road and moto-x, Bradley Cox made his rally raid debut at the 2021 Rallye du Maroc at the age of 23. Finishing 3rd in Rally2 he instantly became ‘one to watch’ on the following Dakar but his rally was marred by a punctured fuel tank. That saw him finish the day in 84th place, just as he was about to break into the top 15 and 25th overall in Jeddah. Third in Rally2 in the 2022 W2RC he was again hotly tipped for the 2023 Dakar but crashed out on the very first stage with a dislocated elbow. That caused him to miss the first round of the 2023 W2RC but he was back for the second round in Mexico where he won the prologue overall. At the penultimate round in Argentina he won the Rally2 category and finished the last day 5th overall. Then in Morocco he again won the Rally2 class and finished 8th overall. Clearly on an upward trajectory and now mixing it with the ‘big boys’ by regularly getting into the top 10 overall, Bradley is hoping it will be third time lucky on the 2024 Dakar. The goal is to achieve a result that will catapult him into RallyGP and the arms of a factory team – just like his Dad Alfie Cox who achieved 3 Dakar podiums between 1999 and 2005 aboard his works KTM.

“Coming into rally raid I had the speed but my lack of experience meant that I couldn’t navigate at that pace. Since then I’ve been working on combining the two elements and as my results from this year show I’m clearly getting there. Ironically, I think the big break through came this summer on a rally outside the championship, the Taklimakan Rally in China. There I was able to just knock down the speed a fraction and open the road every day to take the win. It was a really useful experience and didn’t do my confidence any harm either. As far as the upcoming Dakar is concerned my goals are to win the Rally2 class and finish in the top 10 overall. Or to put it another way, to be a thorn in the side of the professional RallyGP riders. If I can manage that it should accelerate my passage into RallyGP and a paid ride.”

Noah se acerca a Dumontier en Rally 2

Bradley Cox es el más rápido en Rally 2, con el 4º mejor scratch en el kilómetro 292. En Rally 2, Harith Noah es 2º a 4'35'', con Romain Dumontier 3º a 7'47''. En la general virtual, el francés tiene una ventaja de tan solo 1'19'' sobre el indio. ¡Un emocionante final entre "Dudu" y el piloto oficial de Sherco!

Noah amenaza a Dumontier

El tiempo de Romain Dumontier aparece de nuevo en la clasificación. Al francés se le atribuye el 3er mejor tiempo en el kilómetro 179, a 5'37'' de Bradley Cox. Harith Noah ha sido 2º, a 2'15'' de Sudaf. En la clasificación general virtual, el piloto indio de Sherco TVS Rally se encuentra a 1'09" del líder en la categoría Rally 2.

Cox a la cabeza en Rally 2
