Guerlain Chicherit: “We wanted to try to win the stage”

Guerlain Chicherit finished 2nd today and came very close to winning, just 33’’ behind Saood Variawa. The Frenchman, who is 12th in the general rankings, 48’12’’ behind the leader, lost out big time on the 48 HR Chrono stage.

“It was awesome. To be honest, we had a plan this morning. We wanted to try to win the stage and when we arrived at the first really rocky parts, we caught the car in front of us and the dust was really heavy. I couldn’t take too many risks, so I waited. I knew it was going to be like that for 90 km. At one point we got a puncture but at least that gave us some air. After the rocky part, we pushed and drove as fast as we could. From that moment, we stuck to the plan”.
