RALLY GP | A hat-trick for Sanders
Daniels Sanders has won the 48 HR Chrono stage to make it three consecutive stage victories, which has not happened in the bike category since the 2017 edition, when Joan ‘Bang Bang’ Barreda won stages 8, 10 and 11 (with the ninth having been cancelled due to poor weather conditions).
RALLY 2 | Argubright in between the KTMs
KTM could have locked out the entire top 4 in the Rally 2 class this Monday, but Jacob Argubright (in 3rd) has managed to put his Honda in between Edgar Canet (2nd) and Toni Mulec (4th). The American is the leading non-KTM rider on stage 2 and is identical to the performance he managed on the prologue. His result allows him to move into 7th place in the general rankings for his class (37'21’’ behind Edgar Canet) and 33 seconds in front of the second Honda ridden by Romain Dumontier (37'54’’ off the lead).
ULTIMATE | Al Rajhi wins the 48 HR Chrono
Victory is assured for Yazeed Al Rajhi, who reached the finishing line on the 48 HR Chrono stage with a time of 10:32’54’’, 4’29’’ ahead of Nasser Al Attiyah and 6’16’’ in front of Henk Lategan, who concluded the two-day exercise by taking the place of Seth Quintero at the top of the general rankings, 2’45’’ ahead of Al Rajhi and 7’14’’ in front of Al Attiyah.
CHALLENGER | Penalty for Cavigliasso, Spierings wins
Nicolás Cavigliasso has also received a 3-minute penalty for speeding, depriving the Argentinean of victory, meaning Paul Spierings wins by just 2 seconds. Spierings, who is contesting his 7th Dakar, becomes the very first Dutchman to win in the Challenger class.
TRUCK | Macik, première
Martin Macík had not yet won since the start of this edition, but the Czech has set the record straight by winning the 48 HR Chrono stage, a format he also won last year. His countryman Aleš Loprais fought long and hard with him for the stage win, before losing time at the end of the special, finishing 11'23’’ behind. Macík also takes the lead in the general rankins, 10'34’’ ahead of Loprais.
