Daniel Sanders: “The body and bike are good and we’re happy to make it to the rest day”

With 4 victories out of 6 during the first week, ‘Chucky’ Sanders has led the Dakar since the rally’s start. Now at the rest day, the official KTM rider boasts a lead of a quarter of an hour over his nearest pursuer Tosha Schareina.

“On the last 40 km, I had a little navigation instrument problem again. I’m just disappointed. I’m glad it happened at the end of the stage when I was with other riders, otherwise I would have been stuck. I felt good all day. There were a couple of little mistakes in some fast areas, staying too far to one side and missing the main way. The other guys caught up with me pretty quickly after the refuelling. Other than that, the body and bike are good and we’re happy to make it to the rest day. I have a lot of experience and many years here now. I just know what to do and how to control it. The navigation is obviously going good. I know I’ve been able to do it, I’ve just needed the right equipment to make it happen and we’ve definitely got that right now”.
