RALLY GP | VICTORY FOR VAN BEVEREN

Adrien Van Beveren has won the special, his 2nd on this edition of the Dakar and the 5th of his career. Honda rider number 42 opened the way for the majority of the route, picking up 5’36’’ in bonuses. Ricky Brabec has finished second, 42’’ behind, with Pablo Quintanilla in third, 4’29’’ behind, giving Honda a 1-2-3. Ross Branch has completed the stage in 5th, 7’09’’ behind the Frenchman. In the general rankings, Brabec extends his lead of 42’’ this morning to 7’09’’ over Branch, while Van Beveren has moved above Cornejo. The Frenchman is now 3rd, 11’16’’ behind his American team-mate, while Nacho drops back to 13’46’’ from the top of the rankings. Hero rider Ross Branch is still sandwiched in between the three Hondas.

ULTIMATE | LOEB WINS STAGE 9

Sébastien Loeb and his co-pilot Fabian Lurquin have achieved the day’s best time and by winning his 27th stage on the Dakar, Loeb has regained more than 4 minutes on Carlos Sainz in the general rankings. ‘El Matador’ still leads by 20’33’’ ahead of his French rival. Lucas Moraes seemed likely to grab third place today, but the Brazilian lost time over the last few kilometres and finished more than 11 minutes behind the winner in the end. He still occupies third place in the general rankings, but is more than 1 hour and 12 minutes behind Sainz. At the end of the day, Mathieu Serradori has climbed on to the third step of the podium on the special, finishing 4’43’’ behind Loeb.


QUAD | GIROUD WINS IN THE QUAD CATEGORY

Alexandre Giroud has won the stage in the quad race to pick up his fourth victory of the year. The French rider has finished with the best time, 3’13’’ ahead of his rival Manuel Andújar. Although the Argentinean is still in command of the general rankings, his lead has been reduced, dropping from more than 11’ this morning to 8’13’’ this evening.


CHALLENGER | CAVIGLIASSO WINS IN ALULA

Nicolás Cavigliasso has been the quickest in the Challenger class and has won the day’s special. The Argentinean, who already boasts 12 stage successes in the quad category, has equalled Sergey Karyakin or more recently Jeremías González Ferioli, both winners in two categories, namely quads and Challenger/SSV.
