RALLY GP | NUMBER 2 FOR NACHO
Nacho Cornejo has literally flown through this special to Al-Hofuf. The Chilean has achieved the best time with a lead sufficient enough to avoid being leapfrogged by Kevin Benavides due to his 3’42’’ in bonuses. It is the Chilean’s eighth stage victory on the Dakar and the second on this edition (subject to any penalties that may be handed out, as was the case on the previous two days).
QUAD | ANDUJAR TASTES VICTORY AGAIN
Manuel Andújar has achieved the best time on the special to pick up his ninth stage win on the Dakar. The Argentinean took the lead after 156 km and withstood the pressure from Alexandre Giroud, who has finished in second place 32’’ behind. In addition to reacquainting himself with victory, Andújar has taken advantage of Juraj Varga’s mishaps to take command of the general rankings.
RALLY 2 | 10 OUT OF 10 FOR "DUDU"
Romain Dumontier has triumphed on the day’s special in the Rally 2 class. Better than that, the winner of the rally-raid world cup in 2023 has climbed into 10th position on the overall bike stage results, a little less than 2’’ behind Rally GP rider Skyler Howes, and has also moved into tenth place in the general rankings of the bike category. His countryman Mathieu Doveze has also put in a fine performance: 2nd in the Rally 2 class 11’’ behind “Dudu” and 11th in the overall bike rankings for the stage.
ULTIMATE | Loeb wins stage 4
Victory has gone to Sébastien Loeb and his co-pilot Fabian Lurquin today. The quickest time of the day has ensured they win stage 4. It is Loeb’s 24th success on the Dakar. Following on from Mattias Ekström, Guillaume de Mevius, Stéphane Peterhansel and Lucas Moraes, Loeb is the fifth different winner in as many specials.
CHALLENGER | NUMBER 4 FOR GOCZAŁ
Eryk Goczał has achieved the best time on the special to Al-Hofuf to win his fourth stage of the year. The Polish rookie in the Challenger class took command of the special at the second intermediate point and was never troubled, not even by Mitch Guthrie. The American has finished the special 3’25’’ behind Goczał. Michał Goczał, after a tough day yesterday, completes the day’s podium more than 6 minutes behind his nephew.
TRUCK | VAN KASTEREN WINS FOR THE FOURTH TIME
Janus van Kasteren resumed his winning ways by setting the fastest time of the day. However, the Dutchman was threatened by his two Czech rivals Martin Macík et Aleš Loprais, though he held strong to the finishing line. With Loprais finishing more than 8 minutes behind him, he regained the lead in the general standings with an advantage of more than 5 minutes.
SSV | FERREIRA WINS STAGE 4
João Ferreira has won the day’s stage in the SSV category in front of yesterday’s victor Yasir Seaidan. 2’48’’ separate the two Can-Am at the finishing line. Xavier de Soultrait has finished on the day’s podium behind the wheel of his Polaris. Following mechanical problems yesterday, he has got back on track today to achieve third place, a little less than 5 minutes behind Ferreira.
