RALLY GP | BRANCH WINS STAGE 11
Ross Branch has achieved the best time at the finish of the special to grab his second stage victory on this edition of the Dakar. The man from Botswana has deprived Ricky Brabec of victory by 32’’, despite the American’s acquisition of 5’45’’ in bonuses. The American has therefore lost the same amount of time to his rival in the general rankings, but still has a lead of more than 10 minutes the day before the final stage and the finish of the rally in Yanbu.
RALLY 2 | COX WINS, NOAH NOW LEADS THE RALLY 2 CLASS
Bradley Cox has achieved the best time in the Rally 2 class to win for the third time this year. The South African has beaten Harith Noah by 8’29’’, but the Indian has taken the lead in the Rally 2 general rankings. Romain Dumontier has lost more than 18’30’’ to Cox today and is now in second place overall, 5’53’’ behind Noah. It is the first time that a Sherco rider has led a Dakar rally in the Rally 2 class.
QUAD | VICTORY FOR GIROUD!
Alexandre Giroud has produced the best time on the day’s special to pick up his fourth victory of the year. He has reached the finishing line just 37’’ ahead of Manuel Andújar. 37’’ after 6 hours 14 minutes on their machines is equivalent to a distance of only 70 metres! With just one stage left, 8’14’’ separate the two pretenders for the title, with Andújar in the lead.
ULTIMATE | CHICHERIT WINS STAGE 11!
Guerlain Chicherit has produced the best time of the day to win his seventh stage victory on the Dakar and his second in a row. After trailing the stage leader by 4 minutes at the midway point, the Frenchman more than made up the time lost by reaching the finishing line 5’32’’ ahead of Guillaume de Mevius and 5’35’’ in front of Carlos Sainz.
CHALLENGER | NUMBER 2 FOR CAVIGLIASSO
Nicolás Cavigliasso has picked up his second stage victory in the Challenger class after the one obtained on stage 9. The Argentinean withstood attacks from yesterday’s winner Marcelo Gastaldi to produce the best time, 6’08’’ ahead of the runner-up.
TRUCK | MACÍK BEATEN BY LOPRAIS
Martin Macík seemed to have victory well within his grasp today, but has finally finished with the second-best time, 5’07’’ behind his rival Aleš Loprais. Jaroslav Valtr has finished in third place, more than half an hour behind. In the general rankings, Macík is heading to Yanbu with a time cushion of more than 2 hours over Loprais.
SSV | FIRST VICTORY FOR DE SADELEER
Jérôme de Sadeleer has beaten Gerard Farrés by 2 seconds at the finishing line on the day’s special concluding in Yanbu. As a result, the Swiss driver picks up his first stage win and moves to within 12’49’’ of Xavier de Soultrait against the clock. With de Soultrait having been incurred 20-minute penalty from yesterday’s stage, he is set to cede the lead in the general rankings to his Swiss rival.
