Kevin Benavides: “The first day was really bad for me”

8th in the general rankings this morning, 23 minutes behind the leader, the title holder gave the following analysis of the first week.

“Today for stage six they cut the stage because it was really, really dangerous. I think it was a really smart decision from the organisers because it was really, really bad after the cars and trucks the day before. Now we’ve arrived at the rest day and we need to check with the team about everything, to look back at the week and then we’ll only start to think about the next week after that. I’m not really happy with the first week. The first day was really bad for me. But then I started to recover and I started to feel better day-by-day, so that’s positive. There was a lot of mistakes with the complicated navigation, but, anyway, it was difficult for everyone. On day one, we lost a lot, so we have been trying to push and to continue recovering time. I think the next week, for sure, will be interesting”.
