Ricky Brabec: "Still a long rally to go"

Dakar 2022 | Stage 4 | AL SALAMIYA > AL-HOFUF
January 5 th 2022 - 14:42 [GMT + 3]

9th in the stage but 18th overall, Brabec is still willing to put up a fight despite a deficit of almost 54 minutes to the leader.

We're doing great, you know. Stage 4 was the longest stage of the rally, as announced. I actually think it's the longest special of the rally. Everything was good, I started out seventh today and made a strong push to try and make a little bit of time. Unfortunately I suffered a small speeding penalty, my odo right here wasn't quite accurate. Other than that, the stage was good. It was really fast, really tricky in the morning. The first 140 k was the trickiest out of the rest of the stage. Happy to be here with no mistakes. Happy to also keep the bike on the wheels, you know, I haven't dropped the once, so that's all good. Still a long rally to go. We'll see how things shape up here at the end of the week before rest day, and then after rest day, we'll keep pushing until the end and try to get within striking distance of the podium. It's gonna be tough, we've got our work cut out for us, but it can happen. We're gonna try and do that.
