Eduard Nikolaev completed the first part of the rally with another stage victory. As a result, the Kamaz driver strengthened his lead in the general standings, ahead of his team-mates Dimitry Sotnikov and Andrey Karginov.

“Today was a very difficult day: a lot of dunes, a lot of rocks... The temperature was very hot and we were at high altitude today all day. But my crew, the mechanic and co-pilot, completed the task perfectly. We are very happy today, it was a good result. Thank you to the organisers for a good Dakar. Our plans are showing good results and my team-mates Dmitry Sotnikov and Andrey Karginov were very fast today".
