Rally-raid veterans might remember crossing paths with the SsangYong of Giacomo Vismara, who after racing in the truck division and winning in 1986, finished in the Top 10 in the car category three consecutive times (8thin 1994-95-96) behind the wheel of a Musso 4x4. Since then, the South Korean brand hasn’t had much success on the Dakar, but the opportunity to return has come about with the impressive performance put in by Óscar Fuertes on the Baja Aragón. The Spanish driver won the Dakar Challenge and his entry for the race of his dreams and convinced the South Korean constructor to follow him in this adventure. After being a front-runner in the Spanish Off-Road Championship, the Tivoli will be altered for the assault of the Peruvian dunes. Although Óscar Fuertes will be racing in his first Dakar in January, the duo he has formed with Diego Vallejo does not lack ambition. “This is my first participation, so we will be careful because we want to make it to the finish. But we also want to finish as the best rookies. I am convinced that this Tivoli can be competitive and we will have a fantastic chance to prove it."
