“We tried to take our time”

Dakar 2019 | Stage 8 | San Juan de Marcona > Pisco
January 15 th 2019 - 17:13 [GMT -5]

Nani Roma finished stage eight in fifth place, fifteen minutes behind Sébéstien Loeb. Although he now occupies second place in the general standings, the Mini driver is under threat from the Frenchman who he only leads by sixteen seconds. Tomorrow may very well prove to be crucial.

“Really tough. A really, really tough day, with soft dunes and a lot of holes everywhere. I got stuck at one point, but I was lucky it was not for long. On the rest, we were ok and didn’t make mistakes, but it was tough, a really tough day. Today was much easier to manage tyre pressure. On the first part before the neutralisation it was rocks then on the second it was sand. We had fifteen minutes and I took out some air in my tyres and today I could manage much, much better. On the part with the dunes I went with low pressure. But it wasn’t a problem. The problem was with holes everywhere. We only had the bikes in front of us with two or three lines in front and the guys went straight, the good guys straighter than others. Anyway, we tried to take our time at every point, and we are here, we'll see what happens”.
