ULTIMATE | Lategan wins stage 8

Henk Lategan has won stage 8 in Riyadh, the place where he picked up his first victory on the Dakar in 2022. The South African has obtained a second success of the year after the prologue. Guy Botterill, who was battling for victory until 442 km, lost time in the home stretch and finished 1’47’’ behind his countryman.

RALLY 2 | Docherty adds two

Second victory of the week for Michael Docherty in Rally2, despite Edgar Canet's comeback in the final part of the special stage. The South African leads a quartet of KTMs, followed by the Spaniard (+43"), Toni Mulec (+4'20"), and Tobias Ebster (+10'29").

RALLY GP | Benavides wins the stage

The time spent by Luciano Benavides and Adrien Van Beveren assisting Pablo Quintanilla has just been recredited to the two riders. The Argentinean has won the day’s special with a lead of 2’08’’ over the Frenchman. In the end, Tosha Schareina has finished 3rd, 2’14’’ behind Benavides, ahead of 4th-placed Ricky Brabec, 4’21’’ back, and Skyler Howes, in 5th, 4’59’’ down. The leading Rally 2 rider, Michael Docherty, finished 6th, 6’28’’ behind the winner. General rankings leader Daniel Sanders, completed the stage in 7th 6’44’’ behind Benavides.

TRUCK | Victory number 4 of the year for Macik

Martin Macik is continuing calmly on his way to the final finish in Shubaytah, dominating the truck category as he goes. The title holder has obtained his fourth stage victory of the year in Riyadh, by 5’45’’ ahead of Vaidotas Zala and 6’52’’ in front of Ales Loprais. Like yesterday, Mitchel van den Brink has lost time to Macik and, even though he is still in 2nd place, he trails his Czech rival by almost 2 hours and 30 minutes. He is now under threat from 3rd-placed Loprais, who has moved to within 8 minutes.

CHALLENGER | First victory for Navarro in the Challenger class

Pau Navarro has obtained his first victory in the Challenger class. The Spaniard has produced the day’s best time and resisted the pressure exerted by David Zille, who began the day in fine form. Navarro finished 1’23’’ ahead of Paul Spierings. Zille cracked on the home stretch and completed the stage 3’48’’ behind Navarro. Nicolas Cavigliasso finished seventh and limited the damage with regard to Spierings and Gonçalo Guerreiro, his two closest pursuers in the general rankings. Cavigliasso still leads the rally by 27’49’’ ahead of Guerreiro and 34’54’’ in front of Spierings.
