Nasser Al Attiyah: “It’s fantastic to have the lead at the rest day”

Nasser Al Attiyah picked up his 49th victory on the Dakar in front of Sébastien Loeb to give Dacia an unprecedented one-two on the race and the overall rankings leadership with an advantage at the halfway point of 6’10’’ over Henk Lategan and 9’13’’ over Nani Roma. Dacia, Toyota and Ford are all well placed at the rest day.
“I worked a lot today. The first five days were not always easy but today we tried to push. The car is working very, very well and I’m really happy. […] It’s fantastic to have the lead at the rest day. We need to follow this strategy for next week also. The first week was not easy, but we always tried to manage to not have any problems, we just had a few punctures. The last three days and the marathon stage were not easy. We tried to open on the second day of the marathon, but we are quite happy”.
