Henk Lategan: "The bikes won't be opening the road"

Dakar 2025 | Stage 6 | AL DUWADIMI > MARATHON REFUGE
January 11 th 2025 - 17:55 [GMT + 3]

The overall leader finished seventh on the day, marking his second-worst performance of the week after placing ninth in stage 1. The South African has offered his explanation, and the upcoming split stages for motorbikes and cars may well prove him right. Meanwhile, the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver now has Yazeed Al Rajhi closing the gap to 7′16″ overall, with Nasser Al-Attiyah sitting 22′27″ back.

"It was a little bit of a shaky start to be honest. This morning getting into the first bit of dunes and especially these rough tracks in the dunes was a little bit tricky. We didn't push really hard, we tried to be safe today, especially with the coming days and the bikes not opening the road, so we don't really want to be close to the front."
