The Challenger title holder took the spoils and launched his counteroffensive in the overall. He now sits third overall, a mere 6'45" down on the Saudi leader, Yasir Seaidan.
"It was a long stage, but I feel great. I started a fair bit back and ate a lot of dust at the beginning, but after that it was more open terrain, so I felt a bit more comfortable in the car. 'Vale' did an amazing job navigating. I think we won the stage, our first this year. We'll have to keep it up. Stage 1 was quite tricky and I lost a lot of time due to punctures, but we've since got back on the saddle. We'll see how it goes tomorrow, but for now, we're going to work on the car and sleep in the tent. It should be fine, we didn't break anything today, it was a clean race."
