The Portuguese youngster repeated his prologue performance with another second place, this time 4 seconds behind Nicolás Cavigliasso after 412 km of racing.

"It was a great stage. The navigation was tough, but Cadu [Sachs] did a great job. We made no mistakes, no punctures, so I'm happy; it's positive. Even though I didn't win the stage, it’s a good start to the Dakar. We've got the right pace, even though I didn't push to the max. My main goal is to finish the Dakar."
