Toby Price: “I just wanted to put a good one in today”

On his second appearance on the Dakar in a car, Toby Price, the former two-time Dakar winner in the bike category (in 2016 and 2019), secured his first podium finish on a special.

 “I should have done this at the start of the rally! We’ve had a good day but I didn’t really have a good rally for all the two weeks, so I just wanted to put a good one in today. We took a little bit more risks than what we would have liked in the rocks but luckily everything worked out. The tyres held out and did an amazing job and Armand did a really good job as well. We enjoyed it today. Fingers crossed we can hang on to our place. We just need more seat time. This is the third time in one of these cars. To try and race against the world’s best off-road racers, especially Dakar racers, they’re all my heroes that I’ve looked up to since my first days on two wheels. I always wanted to switch to four wheels and I feel like I have the pace to do it. To race against all these greats is an amazing thing. Hopefully, we can try and hold it together, get some more seat time, enjoy it and have some fun”.
