Nasser Al Attiyah: “You could lose everything today”

Nasser Al Attiyah claimed his 50th Dakar stage victory today and his second in the last fortnight, equalling the record previously held by Ari Vatanen and Stéphane Peterhansel while consolidating his lead in the overall rankings. The official Dacia driver now has his sights set on a sixth Dakar triumph.
“We did our job and did a really amazing stage today. To win this stage and to have a good lead now is really amazing. We are so happy. Fabian has worked very well, our Dacia Sandrider is working very well, so we’re happy. On the stage, there were a lot of rocks, it was not easy. You could lose everything today, but we did a good job and I’m happy. There’s one day to go but we need to be smart and we need to be really focused. But everything looks like it’s going very well”.
