Having led the overall rankings by 56 seconds this morning ahead of Luciano Benavides, Ricky Brabec was 3’47’’ ahead of his KTM rival in the virtual overall rankings at the last time checkpoint. The American chose to ease off the throttle and let his lead slip away. The two-time Dakar winner finished 6th on the day, two places behind the Argentinean, who leads by 23 seconds.
“We were getting close to the end and things are shaking up. There's only really one day more left to push. So, Adrien and I rode together for a little bit, then I just did a little bit of strategy today and hopefully it pays off tomorrow. Tomorrow, I feel like it’s going to be a good day, we’re going back into the rocks, so it will be a little bit better for us. Today was super fast, the first hundred kilometres were flat out. Just before refuelling it got a little bit technical and that’s where I caught up with Adrien and we rode together for a little bit. […] I had to do a little strategy, now we'll get ready for tomorrow”.
