The Honda rider was unable to make the most of the stage as it was initially programmed to try and close the gap on his team-mate Tosha Schareina but remains third in the general rankings on the eve of the finish..
“I would have preferred for us to complete the entire stage but several riders pushed for us to only do half. In the end, that’s what was decided. I was a bit angry about it, but I accept the situation. For some riders, it was more in their interest than for other riders for it to be shorter. Tosha was one of those who wanted it shortened, so I hope we will regret it. I wanted to go on the attack, I was optimistic. I fell really hard on a dune after about 50 km and I used up one of my jokers as we say on the rally. I span the bike and damaged the exhaust. As a result, I had to manage the rest of the stage with a big drop-off in power but I’m happy that I’ve reached the finish. Everything’s ok, I’m not bitter because I gave it my all at every moment. I don’t think there will be much to race for tomorrow, but I’m ready to go on the attack if necessary”.
