Skyler Howes: "A short stage, but still demanding"

Dakar 2023 | Stage 10 | ALULA > ALULA
January 11 th 2023 - 13:14 [GMT + 3]

Just like Toby Price, Skyler Howes played it safe in today's 110 km special. Although he did fall once, the American was happy with his shape going into a marathon stage on which many riders have pinned their hopes. Seventeenth in the stage at 7'30" from Ross Branch, Howes is now second overall, 1'30" behind Kevin Benavides.

"Today was 100% dunes. We went into two little, tiny valleys to validate some checkpoints, but otherwise some really technical dunes. Yeah, a short stage, but still demanding. I think the times are going to be really close today… I just wanted to make it through this stage today and get ready for the marathon stage. On short stages like this, you can definitely lose it, but trying to win it is not necessary."
