Xavier de Soultrait: "When we make mistakes, we get back on track in a few seconds"

Strong from the prologue, Xavier de Soultrait reminded everyone why he is the reigning champion in stage 1. The Frenchman secured victory by 7 minutes over the Chilean "Chaleco" López. The American Brock Heger, third, is already trailing the leader by 12 minutes.

"It was really, really nice. When David Castera said it's an easy stage... I've known him for a while and I know he doesn't tell the truth. Maybe it's easy for him, but in flat landscapes like these there are lots of traces, lots of bushes, lots of rocks... I know he loves rocks. We took it easy because there was a lot of rocks and a lot of navigation. Martin and I, when we make mistakes, we get back on track in a few seconds or so."
