“The Dakar has always been my dream”

Wei Han has emerged as one of the most accomplished Chinese drivers on the offroad circuit in recent years. After starring on home soil, notably with three victories at the Taklimakan Rally, the 47-year-old took part in his maiden Dakar last year, coming in 27th with co-driver Min Liao. Wei has been steadily improving at national and international level, and grabbed an excellent second place at this year's Silk Way Rally behind reigning Dakar champion Nasser Al-Attiyah. The owner of the HanWei Motorsport team is now looking forward to a second tilt at the world's biggest rally in a new two-wheel drive SMG Buggy, with which he finished sixth overall at this year's Taklimakan Rally.

“The Dakar has always been my dream, so I'll be back again in 2020! This year we won the Taklimakan Rally in the two-wheel drive category. We were able to test our new car in different conditions, which will surely serve us as a useful experience for our next races, including the Dakar.”
