The rider from Cordoba who put in a sensational Dakar in finishing second in 2015 didn’t participate last year due to a serious accident in 2016 while training in the Tucuman province. With some medical advice, he decided to take the time to recover from a fractured right clavicle, three broken ribs and a broken little finger. 22-year old Jeremias is ready to return to the Dakar aboard a Yamaha Raptor 700 that he spent all year preparing with Oreste Berta. His victory on the Desafio Ruta 40 Norte and his excellent showing in the Merzouga Rally in Morocco and the Desafio Ruta 40 Sur urge him to make a run at the podium in Argentina.
“My absence on the 2017 Dakar is now a thing of the past. I had to decide not to race because I was in the middle of my healing process and there was no guarantee that I would be fit to ride. I took the necessary time to recover with the goal of participating in the2018 Dakar in good shape. I am returning with more experience and I have improved my stature as a rider. In 2017, I returned to competition on the Desafio Ruta 40 Sur where I was doing a good job until I retired. It was the same story on the Merzouga Rally in Morocco where I was riding up front but had to drop out when I could have put in my best result in the 4x2 category. At the same time, during the year I as able to test different modifications and improvements made by Oreste Berta and I am here thanks to this optimism for this 40th Dakar that will finish in Cordoba, in front of my family and friends.”
