“We aim to finish the Dakar, like everyone!”
CREW FACTS
R.S.
- To do the Dakar is one of Riné's dreams and it dates back to the 90s, when he was a motorcyclist. The Dutchman had a hell of a ride, participating in prestigious events like the International Six Days Enduro, eight times.
- Owner of a maintenance company, he’s now ready to take on the big adventure as a car driver. The 55 years old competitor did some preparation races with his new co-driver, Lisette Bakker, whose skills will certainly be useful in the Arcane Racing's T3.
L.B.
- Lisette remembers that in her childhood, her parents let her stay until late in the night in the sofa in order to watch the Dakar on TV. Who would have thought that one day, she would be there too? It was in 2023, and in an all-female team. She was seated in a T3 alongside Merce Marti, but they had to retire very soon in the race.
- Winner of the FIA Women’s Cross Country Selection, Lisette has become one of the most prominent co-drivers on the off-road scene. She has won the Dutch championship several times, and worked with drivers like Martin van den Brink.
- Since the Dakar 2023, she has worked on her navigation by competing in several rallies, including rounds of the W2RC. Besides these events, she did some races in Germany and the Netherlands. Now partnered with Riné Streppel, she wants to go after the finisher's medal that escaped her two years ago.
2025 AMBITION
R.S.: “I wanted to do the Dakar since I was 21, at the time with a motorbike. I drive with Lisette Bakker as my codriver since the Baja Aragon 2024. We had two good events together and we aim to finish the Dakar, like everyone! Our cooperation in the car, as well as when working on the car, is ‘quiet’. We both do our part of the job without stress, and this gives a lot of confidence. We are looking forward to start the race!”
L.B.: “It has always attracted me to work with cars and go on adventures. This combination of interest got me into rally. When the FIA Women in Motorsport competition for Cross Country rally’s was launched, I saw this as a chance to get in to cross-country rallying. And it was! Thanks to this program and all the wise lessons from Fabrizia Pons and Jutta Kleinschmidt, I got the chance to be navigator in cross-country events. I am now with Riné and we did two good races. Our goal will be to finish the Dakar.”.
