Interview

“With a brand-new car, I hope things will go better”

After supporting the Coronel brothers in 2022, Michel Kremer stepped into his first Dakar last year in a Century CR6 as part of the Coronel Dakar Team run by brothers Tim and Tom. His friend Thomas De Bois, an experienced Dakar driver, joined him in the right seat, but the story was short-lived for the Dutch duo as their buggy caught fire at km 75 of stage 1, ruining their hopes of reaching the finish line. Luckily, they escaped this impressive accident unharmed. In 2024, Kremer and De Bois set off again with a brand-new Century, determined to see it through to the end this time.

M.K.: “2023 was my first Dakar, but our car caught fire on the first day at around km 75. The car was destroyed, so we had to retire. We were unlucky, but this year we’re starting off again with a brand-new car, so I hope things will go better. To be ready, I did some small rallies in the Netherlands, but not big ones like last year in Andalusia or Portugal. We’ve had to get the car ready, and we’ll be racing again in the Coronel Dakar Team with Tim and Tom. Our main goal for this Dakar is to finish it and try to keep the car in good condition and not too damaged. Thomas and I are very good friends, which is why I asked him to join me last year. We’re both very quiet, we like each other and understand each other.”
