Kevin Benavides, who won stage three yesterday, again featured on the podium today with a third placed finish, in spite of a badly damaged rear tyre. The title holder, on his 35th birthday, occupies fourth place in the general rankings, roughly twenty minutes behind the leader…
“It was a good birthday, I did some good work. I really enjoyed opening, I really liked it. The stage was fast, really fast, but with a lot of navigation, so I was really focused on my roadbook. When I arrived at refuelling, I saw my rear tyre and it had a big cut in it. So, after that I tried to ride at a good pace. It was a little bit scary but finally I finished and it’s all good with the bike, so we continue”.
