Mattias Ekström, the last Audi driver in the race, again obtained a podium place for the first part of the marathon stage. This third placed finish is a reward for the Swede’s abnegation…
“We had an okay day. I just feel I was too careful on this terrain. It’s the first time I’ve seen this type of dunes in this area, so maybe it’s difficult to expect more, but it’s nice to be here. The car was working fine again. We had no technical issues. Sébastien was a bit faster, but he has more experience on this terrain, so maybe I just have to accept that. In Sweden, we have a bit more snow than here! Bet he can do that as well, he’s very good on this and many other things. Anyway, it looks like we are second or third. It’s also a good result for us. The good thing is I have no big jobs to do, just to check the normal things, so maybe it will be half an hour of work and then we can enjoy the sun”.
