CARS | NUMBER 2 FOR AL ATTIYAH

Nasser Al Attiyah was the fourth driver to start this morning, and took control of the special at the midway point. The Qatari then ensured a sufficient distance with his three rivals (Stéphane Peterhansel, Sébastien Loeb and Carlos Sainz) to pick up his second stage victory of the year by almost two minutes. Sainz finished the day in second place, whilst “Peter” put a second Audi on the day’s podium. Sébastien Loeb was well placed for the win, but the nine times winner of the WRC had mechanical problems a little more than 100 km from the finish, causing him to lose almost quarter of an hour.

QUADS | MORENO FLORES SUCCEEDS GIROUD

Francisco Moreno Flores has achieved the best time on the day’s special. The Argentinean took the lead after 90 km and serenely progressed to the finishing line to claim the win. Pablo Copetti, 53’’ behind, climbs onto the second step of the provisional podium, completed by Marcelo Medeiros (+1’24’’). Alexandre Giroud has lost a little more than 7 minutes today, but retains the lead in the general rankings, almost 40’ ahead of Moreno Flores.

LW PROTOTYPES | QUINTERO REACHES THE FINISH

After having met with misfortune and lost almost 1 hour 20 minutes in the fight for the title yesterday, Seth Quintero has taken out a serious option on stage victory today. Already at the finishing line, the American has beaten “Chaleco” López by almost 5’. He will now have to await the arrival of Ignacio Casale, who was second at the previous time check point, to discover the outcome of this special in the T3 category.

TRUCKS | VICTORY FOR LOPRAIS

Aleš Loprais has pipped Martin Van Den Brink at the post by just 16 seconds. As a result, the Czech keeps his place as general rankings leader, ahead of his Dutch rival, still in second.

SSV | BACIUŠKA WINS IN THE SSV CATEGORY

Cristiano Batista, 21st to start today, achieved the best time on the day’s special, beating Rokas Baciuška by 45’’ and Yasir Seaidan by almost 2 minutes, but the Brazilian has received a 50-second penalty, meaning his Lithuanian rival takes the stage victory. After battling for a place on the day’s podium, Gerard Farrés has finished in fourth, ahead of Rodrigo Luppi De Oliveira.
