Lucas Moraes: “On the first day, I think everyone will try to measure themselves”

January 2 nd 2026 - 11:33 [GMT + 3]

Lucas Moraes will be using two things for the first time in a race tomorrow: his 2025 world champion’s plate and his Dacia Sandrider car. The Brazilian is the only favourite starting the rally in a new vehicle.

“I believe it’s a new team that is really pushing to win. For me to keep evolving as a driver, I think it was the right move for me. Of course, I really love the Toyota as well, I think we had an amazing two years together, of course with the world championship win in Morocco, but I’m happy to be with this new team, with Dacia. Let’s do our best. On the first day, I think everyone will try to measure themselves. Last year, with the 48 HR Chrono stage on the second day, it basically decided the whole race right there. I think this year is more well balanced, so we’ll see how it goes. I think it’s a good time, a real opportunity to be building up with the car, not having the 48 HR Chrono immediately that we could lose. I hope that we can keep going steady and put on a good fight in the second week”.
