After his first podium finish last year on the Dakar, the runner-up in last year’s W2RC is about to tackle his 10th Dakar. AVB could make history by proving to be the most tenacious biker in the sport’s history if he succeeds Cyril Despres, the last Frenchman to win the bike category (in 2014). Nani Roma (who won in 2004) had to wait until his 9th attempt before climbing onto the top step of the podium and in case of overall triumph Van Beveren would take the record from him.
