CREW FACTS

K.P.

  • Karel Posledni has been a fan of trucks on the Dakar since childhood. The Czech entrepreneur later tried his hand at amateur enduro racing, and is now combining his passions by making his competitive Dakar debut in the trucks for the Tatra Buggyra ZM Racing team.
  • The 45-year-old will be getting behind the wheel of a Tatra Phoenix, featuring a Gyrtech 3EC engine and an automatic gearbox. It was driven by Jaroslav Valtr at Dakar 2024. Karel had the opportunity to test it this year at Baja Poland - where he finished 2nd behind friend and teammate Martin Soltys - and at the Rallye du Maroc (4th).
  • Karel is the owner of Valcano, a long-time partner of the Buggyra team, and actually came out to Saudi Arabia with them for Dakar 2020. He will be joined this year by navigator Lukas Kvasnica and experienced mechanic Filip Skrobanek.

L.K.

  • Lukas Kvasnica was a total newcomer to rally-raid when he made his Dakar debut in 2024, as a navigator for Daniel Stiblik. They were competing for the Tatra Buggyra ZM Racing team in a different Tatra Phoenix, along with mechanic Jiri Tomec. Despite all three crew members being rookies, they made it home as the final truck in the standings - in 20th place and 135 hours down on the winner Martin Macik!

F.S.

  • Filip Skrobanek returns to the Dakar after a four-year absence, for his 6th competitive outing
  • The 33-year-old made his debut in 2015 as a mechanic for Robin Szustkowski, while his most recent appearance was with Robin's father Robert Szustkowski in 2020. In the meantime, he worked with Artur Ardavichus (2016) and Pavel Vrnak (2018), and in 2019 he was the driver of a fast assistance truck for Martin Prokop's MP-Sports team.

2025 AMBITIONS

K.P.: “I've been friends with Martin Soltys for a long time. In 2020 I was actually with him at the first Dakar in Saudi Arabia as a member of Tatra Buggyra ZM Racing. And for 2025 the opportunity came up to race for the team, so I didn't hesitate and went for it. I'm very grateful to them. I have huge expectations of what the Dakar will be like! I'm mainly going to gain experience, but I'm approaching it with humility. We raced at Baja Poland and the Rallye du Maroc this year, so I've had a chance to familiarise myself with the Tatra Phoenix a bit. I know the Dakar will be much more difficult, but I'm determined that with the whole crew, we will make it to the finish line.”

L.K.: “Dakar 2024 was a dream come true for me and Daniel, and we accomplished our mission to finish the rally. I'd never done rally navigation before, so I was happy to get the opportunity. As well as improving my navigation skills, I made the biggest progress in keeping my concentration during long stages, which is very demanding. I have to admit the dunes are now written indelibly in my memory, in a good way and a bad way! Unfortunately, we weren't able to prepare for them before Dakar, so we struggled. But it turned into essential experience and wonderful memories exploring the darkness and emptiness, while spending nights in the dunes next to a truck that had toppled over. After experiencing all that, there's no better feeling than crossing the finish line together with the whole crew.”

F.S.: “I'm really excited to be back for the first time since 2020. You either love the Dakar or you hate it, and I belong to the first group! My best memories of the rally are probably from 2016, when we were racing in magical South America and narrowly missed out on the Top 10. The worst memories are when your truck gets stuck and there's no one around, so you have to get a shovel and just go dig it out! I think as an onboard mechanic, you have to know the truck you're racing and help the driver as much as you can. The race truck is big and wide, and the mechanic sits on the other side from the driver. So, you can help a lot by watching the entire right side of the track. Especially in the dunes, it's important for the driver to get the right information. Our ambition for Dakar 2025 is to reach the finish of the last stage and gain experience. My personal goal is to be able to pass on experience to Karel and give him confidence during the race.”
