- He was only eleven when his father Yoshimasa took on the Dakar for the first time on a bike before switching to trucks and finishing five times second in 36 appearances. In other words, Teruhito is a child of the Dakar and has learned from one of the greatest, first as a navigator for his dad and then as the driver of his own Hino truck.
- The Japanese has taken part in 20 Dakar rallies as a pilot and has only finished three times outside of the Top 15.
- After another fine thirteenth spot last year, the 53-year-old father of two will once again be starting the Dakar alongside mechanic Yuji Mochizuki and navigator Hirokazu Somemiya. To finetune their latest Hino, all three men competed at the Baja Jeddah to already put themselves in Dakar mode.
- The goal will once again be to finish as high up as possible in the standings and continue promoting the Hino brand.

Overcoming these hardships together, as one united team including the support staff and crew, has become an invaluable experience for both the team as a whole and for each individual. Facing repeated difficult situations this time, continuing to fight without giving up, and ultimately reaching the finish line is something I feel was extremely precious. Something that cannot be measured by finishing position alone. We were truly blessed with an incredible group of people.
